Ryan DeRamos composed and produced the underlying score and the majority of the soundtrack for the film Elan Vital (2009). Here is a track that was written and arranged for a very suspenseful part of the film:
The Stranger (2:26)
Ryan says: “The track begins with this almost-chaotic descent of chords, which turns into a creepier restatement of what ‘the band’ played in the first half of the film: ‘The Drone.’ It incorporates some of the ‘Robert‘ theme, then segues to a chanting choir, which resolves back to another modification of ‘The Drone’ theme. In any case, if I remember correctly, ‘The Stranger’ track wasn’t used much in the actual film.”
For the sake of reference, here is “The Drone,” which, while not a drone in the technical sense, pretty much drones along rather monotonously during the first half of the film, which was the whole point of the track:
The Drone (15:51)
Ryan says: “At almost 16 minutes, yeah, ‘The Drone’ gets very repetitive, but there are some cool spots in the song. Overall, it does have a cool, jazz-surf vibe to it.”
